The Festival Plate is a Grade 3 National Hunt chase which takes place on day 3 of the Cheltenham Festival. It is run on Cheltenham’s New Course and the runners must jump seventeen fences during the race. Horses must be at least 5 years old to be entered into the handicap race.
The race can often be quite tough to bet on with only 1 favourite winning the race in the last 28 runnings. It is important when betting on a horse that they have stamina to last the 21 furlongs whilst they must also be a good jumper to get over the seventeen obstacles.
Nicky Henderson and Martin Pipe both have both had 4 winners in this race and so it may be worth keeping an eye out for any of their runners during this years renewal.
