The Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle is a Grade 3 hurdle race which horses aged 4 years old can enter. It is a handicap race for novice hurdlers and is the second from last race on the Wednesday of the festival. The race is run on the Old Course at Cheltenham and runners must jump eight hurdles on their way round.
The race was one of many to be introduced in 2005 when a fourth day was introduced. It was originally a listed race before being promoted to being a Grade 3 race in 2009.
The Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle traditionally has a large field and so can often offer some each way value to punters. Paul Nicholls is the most successful trainer in the races history, having won the race 3 times, with a 1-2 in the 2016 renewal of the race. Whilst no jockey has ever won the race more than once.
