The JLT Novices Chase is a Grade One National Hunt chase which is the first race of the third day of the Cheltenham Festival. Horses aged five years or older can enter the race, which is for novice chasers. The JLT Novices Chase is run on the New Course at Cheltenham, runners have to jump 17 fences on their way round the course.
The race was upgraded to become a Grade One race in 2014 and is officially called the Golden Miller Novices’ Chase, although it has always been run under a sponsored title.
AP McCoy and Ruby Walsh are the two jockeys with the best records in this race, both having two wins each to their name. Willie Mullins has the best trainers record in this race having won it three times in the six runnings of the race
