Treble chance
Well it’s been a long time coming but I finally managed a treble last weekend. Ok, so on ratings they were all entitled to win, but as we know it is never that easy.
Beat The Bank looked to have lost it but somehow seemed galvanised when he got surrounded by other horses. Lord Glitters needed every yard of the nine furlongs to get past Mushtasry while Expert Eye will always have his critics and they may have a point considering he should really have demolished the field in the City Of York Stakes.
He holds an entry in the QEII but maybe the Foret would be a better option. Unless we think he can give 3lb to Alpha Centuari.
Blakeney Point finished fifth in the Ebor but was nowhere near the winner Muntahaa. My comment on this horse gave me slight comfort “Two others I like are Muntahaa and Platitude. The former has been tried at Group level and has been found wanting but I feel he has a big one in him”. A big one indeed.
Too good to pass up
But back to me and my long awaited success. I do tend to avoid favourites as my stakes tend to need a double figure price to make me smile. But sometimes two or three horses look too good to pass up.
For those of you with long memories you will recall my Nyaleti/Enable double on King George day last year. I was as sure as someone like me can be that day. And last week, even though all three horses gave me reservations, I thought that all three were just big enough for me to dip my toe in. And it paid off. Here’s hoping I can keep it up.
